Hot, cold, light and sweet – Swiss coffee machine maker JURA has marked International Coffee Day 2026 with the Australian launch of the new JURA E10, a compact automatic machine that pours 36 coffee specialities across four "worlds" of coffee. The World Loves Melbourne was invited to an exclusive launch at Kirsten Tibballs' Yarra Valley farm to put it through its paces over an incredible lunch.
Australians take their coffee seriously – and increasingly, not just hot. Iced lattes, cold brew and lighter, sippable styles have crept onto café menus across Melbourne, and JURA's newest machine is built squarely for that shift, bringing café-style variety to the kitchen bench with a single touch.

A Launch Day at Kirsten Tibballs' Yarra Valley Farm

There are product launches, and then there are days like this. On Tuesday 29 September 2026, JURA brought a small group of media and tastemakers out to the Yarra Valley farmhouse of Kirsten Tibballs – the award-winning pastry chef and chocolatier behind Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School – for an exclusive lunch and immersive introduction to the E10, ahead of International Coffee Day.
Inside Kirsten's Farmhouse
After a morning pick-up from Melbourne, we arrived at the farmhouse at 11am and began with a tour of the home. Designed by architect Alexander Buchanan, it's a space that feels warm and textural from the moment you step inside – anchored by a striking double-sided fireplace and a long blackwood dining table that proved the perfect stage for the afternoon ahead.
Meeting the E10

Just before midday, JURA unveiled the E10 in its sleek Onyx Grey finish, walking us through its four worlds of coffee. Then it was time to take our seats at that blackwood table for the first course, before getting hands-on with the machine ourselves – pouring everything from classic hot coffees to smooth, cold-extracted Cold Brew, airy Light Brew and specialities crowned with Sweet Foam.
A Farmhouse Feast – and Dessert by Kirsten Tibballs

Lunch was a generous, share-style affair made for long conversation. It opened with warm sourdough, cultured butter and house pickles, followed by a trio of starters: creamy burrata with heirloom tomato and basil, charred seasonal vegetables with romesco, and house-cured Tasmanian salmon with a mustard and dill rub and horseradish crème fraîche.

Then came the feast platters. Slow-cooked lamb shoulder, spiced with rosemary and garlic and lathered in salsa verde, sat alongside porchetta stuffed with fennel seeds and Mediterranean spices, and market fish roasted en papillote with lemon olive oil, chilli and dill.

The seasonal sides more than held their own – crispy kipfler potatoes with a parmesan crust, rosemary and smoked salt; charred pumpkin with pepitas, Persian fetta and honey vinegar; and bitter leaves and citrus with fennel, toasted almonds and preserved lemon mayonnaise.

Pouring alongside were wines from Billy Button Wines and its sister label Shy Susan – a Victorian producer from the Alpine Valleys known for vibrant, cool-climate wines.

We started with the Shy Susan Blanc de Blancs 2019, before moving on to The Versatile Vermentino 2024 and The Rustic Sangiovese 2024, both a natural match for the Mediterranean-leaning feast. For non-drinkers, there was Sanpellegrino CIAO in blood orange and lime, plus Sanpellegrino sparkling water and Acqua Panna.

Then came the moment many of us had been waiting for: an interactive dessert demonstration from Kirsten herself, one of Australia's most celebrated pastry chefs, showing the precision and artistry she's known for. Her dessert menu put the E10 front and centre. There were madeleines soaked in JURA coffee and coated in gold chocolate, and chocolates filled with a JURA coffee ganache. Playful mini Wagon Wheels came with a caramel, passionfruit and marshmallow filling. To finish, an affogato paired white chocolate ice cream with a pour of freshly made JURA coffee – arguably the best advertisement for the machine all day. We then had time to roam the farmhouse and grounds, coffee in hand, before transfers departed at 3pm.

It was the perfect setting to see how the E10 moves from a hot morning coffee to a chilled afternoon Cold Brew and a sweet finish after dessert – the full sweep of a day's coffee in one sitting. For me, though, it always comes back to the espresso. I'm an espresso guy through and through, and the E10's was rich and well-rounded, with the depth you'd hope for from freshly ground beans. I'll admit the latte with double foam won me over too – silky, generous and dangerously easy to go back for.

Four Worlds of Coffee, One Machine
The big idea behind the E10 is choice. Rather than simply making espresso-based drinks, the machine is organised around four distinct coffee "worlds".

1. Hot Brew
The classics – the espresso-based favourites and milk coffees you'd expect from a premium JURA, ground fresh for every cup.
2. Cold Brew
This is the headline act. Rather than pouring hot coffee over ice, the E10 makes genuinely cold-extracted Cold Brew by pulsing cold water through freshly ground coffee under high pressure – so you get a smooth cold coffee on demand, without the overnight steeping.
3. Light Brew
A lighter option for those who want flavour without intensity. Light Brew uses less coffee and a brewing temperature of around 60°C, producing a light, aromatic drink that's ready to sip straight away – no waiting for it to cool.
4. Sweet Foam
For the sweet tooth, JURA's Sweet Foam function tops selected specialities with a subtly sweetened milk foam – a café-style treat without reaching for the syrup bottle.
Across five brewing processes, those four worlds add up to 36 coffee specialities – enough to cover almost any preference or time of day.
Wake Up to Freshly Ground Coffee
The E10 also introduces a new Coffee Timer. Using the J.O.E.® app, you can programme your morning coffee so the machine freshly grinds and prepares your chosen drink at a set time – it's ready when you walk into the kitchen. Note that J.O.E.® features, including the Coffee Timer, require the optional Wi-Fi Connect V2.
Getting around the menu is straightforward. The 3.5-inch colour display uses a colour-coded system to guide you through each world of coffee, with side buttons for simple navigation.
Precision From the First Cup

Great coffee starts with a great grind, and the E10 uses JURA's P.A.G.2+ grinder, designed for consistency, precision and longevity. It grinds specifically for each preparation and can be adjusted at any time, while JURA's aroma control monitors the grinder setting to help each coffee develop its characteristic aroma.
Prefer to use pre-ground coffee now and then – say, a decaf? The E10 recognises when ground coffee has been added via the powder chute and automatically adjusts the preparation.
Designed for Quality and Longevity
JURA's Quality Assistant is built in to make everyday maintenance more resource-efficient while supporting hygiene, consistent coffee quality and a longer machine life.
Finished in Onyx Grey and just 27 cm wide, the E10 packs all of this into a footprint that suits contemporary Australian kitchens. Clean lines, quality materials and that colour display continue the understated, timeless design language of JURA's E line.
Our Verdict
The E10 feels like JURA reading the room. Melbourne's coffee culture has long moved beyond the flat white alone, and a machine that can do a proper hot coffee at 7am, a genuine Cold Brew at 3pm and a sweet-foam treat after dinner covers how many of us actually drink coffee now. At $3,050 it's a premium purchase, but for households going through several coffees a day – and anyone paying café prices for cold brew – it makes a compelling case.
