Stunning Launch of Lavazza Italian Film Festival

The largest film festival outside of Italy, The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the launch of the Lavazza Italian Film Festival at the fabulous The Astor Theatre (Festival runs to October 9). We've worked out this is one of the premium events on the Melbourne calendar, with last year also a spectacular success.

Ambassador for the Festival, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, was star guest of the evening. Natasha starred in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon -The Green Legend, and she will next be seen in Hotel Mumbai, a feature film currently shooting between Adelaide and Mumbai and set for release in 2017. One of the best things to do in Melbourne is to engage with it's stunning festivals and this festival is one of the best.

David from The World Loves Melbourne was privileged to chat with Natasha about her life as an actress, her life in LA and Sydney, and her current film Hotel Mumbai. Natasha has had a meteoric rise in acting since leaving Law School a couple of years ago. Natasha is such an elegant and charming Ambassador and we predict more huge success for this highly talented actress.

The Opening Night film for 2016 is Paolo Genovese’s Perfect Strangers, the Best Film and Best Script winner at the 2016 David di Donatello Awards. Without giving the plot away, this is a high class film that keeps you captivated all the way through. The crowd was in bright spirits and immersing in the intrigue of the film. There was definitely a festival atmosphere at the launch.

Catering by DOC was first class including Bandini Prosecco NV DOC and appetisers on arrival. And then the catering went into overdrive for the afterparty.

We were also supplied with "Salumi boxes" with DOC goodies such as DOC roasted porchetta.

After party was stunning including Lavazza and Connoisseur "Affogato" Bar.

Also featuring at the Lavazza Italian Film Festival is the Australian-Italian feature The Space Between with Director Ruth Borgobello pictured above with Actress Maeve Dermondy.
