Stunning Ms. Jackson Wine Bar Launches in Doncaster East
New Ms. Jackson Wine Bar is a revelation in Doncaster East featuring modern Australian cuisine and an extensive drinks selection. Spectacular and savvy, Head Chef Stephanie Stapleton (ex Jackalope and Montalto) takes diners on an exciting journey that elevates beyond expectation with her seasonal menu boasting the finest local produce, combined with loads of technique and fine execution.
No need any more for locals to drive into the city to experience this kind of excellence.
The evening started off with a stunning Spicy Lolita cocktail with welcome green chilli kick.
All small dishes (tapas style tasting plates) excited including the Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar (loved the fermented chilli and crunch of generous sesame cracker), Lamb Cigar (rich and indulgent), Lobster Roll (one of the best renditions in Melbourne), and a delightful Mussels special (wonderful plump mussels).
For mains the Bannockburn Negroni Chicken (that sauce!) is a showstopper and the Heirloom Carrots side was a revelation in itself. Also enjoyed the Cos lettuce with Parmesan. This was all washed down with a delightful Barbera from Piedmont.
Ms Jackson is a serious wine bar with more than 100 wines of excellence.
The fit out is modern, approachable and lifts the spirits, with an elongated bar, superb dining spaces, and a compelling wine wall.
Desserts are also top notch and I enjoyed the theatre and taste of the Bombe Alaska, Flambe, with Head Chef Stephanie coming out to my table to flambe the dessert.
There's simply nothing like Ms Jackson in the area. The name Ms Jackson is connected to Jackson Court next door, a precinct popular with locals (although the Outkast song also comes to mind). Some staff are invested as part owners of this business headed by Zero95 Dining Group, which is a great model. Highly recommended.
