To get to the place of determining nominees for the People's Choice Awards expert judges tasted and tested over 400 of Australia's gold medal winning products (dream job is to be one of these judges tasting the 400 premium products!) and whittled them down to a shortlist of 54 finalists. It's over to the public now to determine Australia's People's Choice Champion! Help your favourite product rise to the top by giving it your vote!

We can't get enough of Australian cheese. Hard or soft bring it on! 

Renowned dairy educators Russell Smith and Mark Livermore led a panel of technical experts, chefs, retailers and flavour specialists to assess presentation, texture, flavour and aroma to shortlist the top three in each class, crowning them the 2018 finalists.

“We are excited to announce the stellar line up of 2018 finalists. The awards celebrate quality and excellence in delicious dairy produce, but we also want to encourage Australians to take a moment to recognise the skills and dedication of the many people who craft these products,” says Amanda Menegazzo, convener of the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.

“It’s incredible to think that the array of finalists - from spicy blue cheese to tangy passionfruit yoghurt and sweet fig and mascarpone gelato - all start with one amazing ingredient, quality Australian milk. These awards would not exist without the contribution of the passionate Australian dairy farmers who produce it.” Of course the judges don't determine the People's Choice Awards - that's up to the public!

The World Loves Melbourne is an avid fan of Australian Dairy and we have heard highly accredited judges at several events remark on how our dairy products are world class. We can hold our heads up high on the world stage. The People's Choice Awards celebrate the exceptional quality of Australian dairy. Many of these products we at The World Loves Melbourne consume in our daily lives. We are excited that even at the supermarket many of these products are available and that in recent years supermarkets have stepped up in terms of offering premium Australian dairy products. Often there's a gourmet cheese section in the supermarket, as well as premium ice cream, milk, yoghurt etc sections where consumers can grab their favourite products.

Looking at the nominees for the People's Choice Awards, the World Loves Melbourne also sees it as a shopping list of all the things we want to try and experience! While we are familiar with many of the products we want to try them all! So we are going through the list and it's a great way to experience the best of the Australian dairy industry!

Of course the People's Choice Awards are part of the overall Australian Grand Dairy Awards event coming up soon in February. This event is hugely anticipated and one of the favourite events of The World Loves Melbourne on the calendar. Judges, media and industry come together to celebrate the best of the best. This is a highly prestigious awards event for those who get nominated, let alone win an award. It's a night of feasting as the premium dairy products are beautifully showcased and can be sampled and experienced. Fascinating are the interviews with the winners who often thanks those involved in their success but also give insights into processes and some background.
