Launch of Renault Kadjar 2020 at Dominique Portet
The Renault Kadjar is a new welcome addition to the compact SUV scene in Australia and we were invited to a stunning launch event at iconic winery Dominique Portet in the Yarra Valley. The Renault Kadjar fills a gap in the French brand's SUV line-up, between the Captur and Koleos. We arrived by chauffeur to Dominique Portet, then enjoyed mockttails, a fabulous lunch and presentations by Renault management, before embarking on a test drive of the Renault Kadjar ourselves, culminating in a cocktail and canape session afterwards.
The Renault Kadjur is eye catching, including here in the stunning Yarra Valley.

Then it was time for the test drive! A fleet of Renault Kadjur on standby. Safety requirements communicated to us before we took the wheel.
There's no doubt the Renault Kadjar caught our eye as a stylish car from every angle and including the interior. French design with bold colours is compelling. Personally apart from the style, I enjoyed a smooth ride as we wound our way through the Yarra Valley, and I was surprised by the power of the turbocharged engine that was super responsive. For me this is a big deal to have both the power and the style. The Renault Kadjur captures the imagination and is the perfect car for city driving.
Changeover as we made our way in convoy through the Yarra Valley.
We were told Renault Kadjur has sales of around 500,000 vehicles in Europe since 2015 so it is much anticipated for those looking for the next level compact SUV in Australia. I felt it was also spacious enough for families - the boot space is generous too at 408 litres so throw your golf clubs (or your pram) in the back.
Dominique Porter Brut Rose after our drive.
Iconic Dominique Portet Brut Rose Pinot Noir Chardonnay.
Fabulous charcuterie and canapes rounded off a perfect day.
The Renault Kadjar is packed with features for the resonable price point and comes dusk-sensing headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, LED daytime running lights, climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and alloy wheels. Safety features include six airbags covering both rows, child-seat attachment points, a basic city-speed autonomous emergency braking system without pedestrian or cyclist detection, a rear-view camera, parking sensors at both ends, and a five-star Euro NCAP crash score from its 2015 test.
Also available are blind-spot monitoring lights, audible lane-departure warning, push-button start, a proximity key, nicer cloth seat trim, satellite-navigation, rear-seat USB points, and roof rails.
The top of the range gets extras such as LED headlights, auto park assist, heated leather seats, an upgraded Bose audio system, 19-inch wheels, and a panoramic glass roof. What more do you want?
