90s House Party Kicks On at Melbourne Central
Double denim at the ready: Melbourne Central is gearing up to host a massive 90s House Party on Wed May 1, with over 100 exclusive shopping offers available on the day as part of this year’s Shop The City - the city-wide retail event which last year attracted over 214,000 shoppers.
Throwing us back into the nostalgia of our younger years, Melbourne Central’s 90s House Party will provide fun, flashback entertainment along with FREE food, drinks and prizes, and a FREE movie screening at Hoyts Cinema. Transforming the centre into one big house party, there will be plenty of opportunities to reminisce about the good ol’ times with a variety of FREE 90s themed activities popping up throughout and 90s DJs spinning all the best throwback tracks!
Those once entertained for hours fishing for toys on the Claw Machine will get another chance to test their skills on an old-school grabber, while getting serious Toy Story throwback vibes and scoring a swag of 90s prizes and extra shopping discounts. B. Lucky & Sons Party Bar will be serving FREE Woo Woo cocktails in party cups (for 18+ only), with Pazzi Pizza, Nando’s and Grill’d stopping by to deliver FREE party snacks.
Classic 90s tunes will set the scene to settle in and enjoy a mini-break from retail therapy. Shoppers keen to embrace the 90s vibe can visit the Levi’s pop-up to receive FREE customisation on old or new Levi’s denim with a selection of the raddest badges, embroidery and patches to choose from.
Meanwhile, the just-opened Dr Martens store will enable shoppers to complete the 90s look with a thicksoled pair of lace-ups.
Through-out the day, shoppers can visit the Powder Room by MAC Cosmetics for 90s-inspired make-up applications – think nude glossy lips and eyeliner. And whilst there, keep an eye out for Melbourne Central’s street style photographer, who will be capturing all the best 90s looks by the epic Wall of 90s Records located on Level 1.
Once shoppers are just about dropping, they can head to Hoyts on Level 3 for FREE popcorn or a choc top and a FREE late-night screening of classic 90s flick, 10 Things I Hate About You - guaranteeing to take movie-goers back to those hilariously-embarrassing school days. Seats can be booked in advance.
What’s more 250 visitors on the day will receive clues taking them on a treasure hunt around the centre to collect prizes, with additional clues revealed via Instagram Stories leading to the major prize of a $300 Melbourne Central gift voucher.
Melbourne Central will have extended trading hours from 10am to 9pm.
