Situated just ten minutes from the heart of the Bendigo Township, guests can explore and discover the vibrant regional town that offers old world charm and ambience. Nestled among the vineyards, Balgownie Estate Bendigo showcases 15 luxurious permanent tents that dot the winery grounds and offer stunning views of the vineyards and countryside Victoria.
Enjoy relaxing on the tent deck with a glass of wine during the afternoon then visit the cellar door for your tasting experience, as we did. The tasting experience involved choosing 6 of the Balgownie wines - we chose a white and five reds (can you tell our wine bias?).
A fully immerse retreat, guests
Balgownie’s luxury glamping tents include queen size beds and linen, split system air conditioning, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and outfitted with furnishings, rugs and lighting. Each tent is equipped with a private outdoor decking area, furnished with an outdoor lounge setting for relaxing and taking in the views. And don't forget to check out the early morning dawn views as well as the sunset and stars.
The retreat’s onsite restaurant, complete with a new state-of-the-art refurbished kitchen, allows guests to indulge in Balgownie Estate’s delicious seasonal menu that highlights local produce and award-winning wine. Our package included a meal voucher, which we used for the teo course dinner option. Carpaccio was a standout as was the Zucchini flowers, perfect with Balgownie Estate Cabernet Merlot. For mains we chose the Mt Macedon Duck Breast and the Slow Roast Roaring Forties Lamb Shoulder.
Robins Island Wagyu Carpaccio was my pick of the dishes.
As the only winery within the Bendigo region to achieve ‘5 Red Stars’ from the Halliday Wine Companion- no visit would be complete without a trip to their cellar door. A taste of the Balgownie Estate shiraz is a must!
