Eastland Loves Melbourne

Eastland has launched with it's new look and has effectively doubled in size. The World Loves Melbourne attended the impressive launch ceremony with Hon Julie Bishop cutting the ribbon with other luminaries present.

The launch was attended by Deputy Premier of Victoria James Merlino, Member for Deakin Michael Sukkar MP, Mayor of City of Maroondah Tony Dib, and City of Maroondah CEO Steve Kozlowski, as well as Queensland Investment Corp.

This is an exciting project and much more than just a shopping centre development. Artwork by David Bromley is impressive.

Paris. London. Milan. Ringwood.

We heard that this stage of the project has created 150 additional specialty stores with big names such as H&M and UNIQLO, as well as some 1800 jobs. We also hear there is a premium hotel planned in future stages.

Town Square caught our eye; this is more than a shopping centre project but an urban renewal project. The town square returns as the hub of city life. The Town Square is a place for the community to gather, spend time and enjoy culinary experiences.

The Town Square is the vibrant cornerstone of the new Eastland says the website and aims to provide captivating sensory experiences through a melting pot of food and retail adventures, incorporating culinary concepts from our local Eastern landscape to around the globe. This centrepiece is designed to reflect Melbourne’s unique food culture and new gastronomic ideas, harnessing the natural abundance of local provenance of the area.

This is a unique foodie experience in Melbourne, and we're hearing the eastern suburbs residents in particular rejoicing. As Hon Julie Bishop reminded us at the launch, this goes even beyond the local region to the benefit of many who will visit.

Among the new food experiences are Hunter & Barrel (think meat dishes at their finest fresh from the farm and barrel aged beverages), George Calombaris’ modern Athenian eatery, Jimmy Grants’ Deluxe featuring an extended menu and table service, Frank Camorra’s culinary ambition for the city of Melbourne, Mexican taqueria Paco’s Tacos, and the haute-burger chain Huxtaburger by Huxtable chef Daniel Wilson. A dining concierge will help pave your epicurean journey or enjoy a new place to socialise. Not to mention Lavezzi Gelato!

The pioneering architecture initiates the seamless integration of art, culture, learning and events into the community, generating spaces for innovation, ideas, relaxation and play.

We were taken to the cutting edge REALM space; a hub of innovation in the city.

Chatting with local Councillors Cr Christina Gleeson and Cr Natalie Thomas with QIC representative was a highlight; with congrats to the Council as well as all levels of government involved.

This is the most exciting development seen in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne - and there's still more development to be undertaken!
