Surf "N" Turf Range at YOMG Bringing the Summer Vibes
YOMG has done it again. The Melbourne burger legends and champions of frozen yogurt have just dropped their Surf ’n’ Turf range, and it’s pure bottled sunshine. Six weeks only, gone for good at 5pm on Thursday March 5, so if you haven’t tried it yet, move fast.
This menu is all the best bits of an Australian summer: surf club canteen classics remixed with YOMG’s big, bold burger energy, served in limited-edition blue-and-white packaging that’s basically begging for a beach picnic or a lazy park hang with mates.

I swung by the Doncaster East store on a warm afternoon, ordered pretty much everything on the new lineup, and rolled out after burgers, sides, and one very loaded shake. No regrets - just sauce on my fingers, a satisfied hunger and a stupid grin.
The absolute standout is the Surf ’n’ Turf YO MY. It’s YOMG’s signature beef patty paired with a generous piece of golden-crumbed fresh fish, double cheese, crisp shredded iceberg, bread-and-butter pickles, their famous secret sauce, and a cheeky hit of ketchup. The combo sounds wild on paper, but in your hands it’s magic - juicy beef meeting flaky, crisp fish, with melted cheese glueing everything together and that tangy secret sauce pulling all the strings. The pickles cut through with sweet sharpness, the lettuce adds snap, and somehow it all balances into something ridiculously satisfying.

If you want to keep things simpler, the Fish Royale is perfection: the same beautiful crumbed fish fillet, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and secret sauce. Clean flavours, crisp texture, gone in minutes.
For anyone chasing heat, the Chilli Cheese Fish Sandwich brings the fire - cheese sauce, chilli sauce, fresh jalapeños, slaw, and lemon sriracha mayo piled on that golden fish. It’s properly spicy (the #yomgitsHOT tag isn’t lying), but the heat builds gradually, never masking the fish itself. The cool slaw and zingy mayo keep everything in check, turning each bite into a little rollercoaster.

The sides are straight-up nostalgia done right. The Chip Butty is gloriously silly and brilliant: a soft, buttered milk bun stuffed with fat chips, melted cheese, and ketchup. It’s the kind of thing you’d dream up after a big night out and declare a masterpiece - YOMG just made it real.

Fat Chips are thick, fluffy-centred, super-crisp beauties, lightly salted with ketchup or vinegar on the side. Potato Cakes are hot, golden, and perfectly old-school, ready for a dunk in the provided ketchup. Then there’s the South Melbourne Dim Sim - that legendary fried monster, huge and steaming, served with soy sauce. One bite of the meaty filling and chewy pastry and you’re right back at the market on a weekend morning.

For maximum value and easy sharing, the Surf ’n’ Turf Box is the ultimate move. You get the Fish Royale (or the upgraded double-protein version for extra $3), a fried South Melbourne dim sim, a potato cake, fat chips, plus ketchup and soy sauce on the side. Everything’s packed neatly, ready for a group feed or a very committed solo session.

To wash it all down, the Loaded Milo Shake is childhood in a cup - Milo blended with white chocolate, vanilla ice-cream, milk, and topped with whipped cream and extra Milo dust. It’s thick, cold, malty-sweet, and impossible to drink quickly. I sipped mine slowly while surrounded by empty wrappers, already planning my next visit.

This whole range feels like YOMG looked at our favourite beachside and footy-ground foods - fish and chips, dimmies, potato cakes, chip sandwiches - and decided to make them bigger, tastier, and more fun. The ingredients are fresh, the portions generous, the flavours punchy, and the vibe unapologetically Aussie. It’s not fancy; it’s just really, really good summer eating.

With only days left before it disappears on March 5, grab some friends, hit your nearest YOMG (Doncaster East was firing on all cylinders), order big, find some sunshine, and dig in. You’ll thank yourself - and probably go back tomorrow.
