Pizza Lovers Rejoice - A25 Travels to the CBD

A25CBD 1

South Yarra and Dockland’s popular crazy pizza place, A25 is extending its unique Italian fare to the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, continuing to deliver the brand’s contemporary twist on traditional favourites. Check out our Best Pizza in Melbourne.

The coined phrase ‘pizza is sexy’ has now made its way into the CBD as A25 has opened its second location on Lonsdale Street.

Opening earlier this month, A25 has expanded from its South Yarra location and continues to deliver a contemporary twist on traditional favourites. There’s no special formula except that the team at A25 clearly knows its Italian roots.

The mastermind behind all these creations is Remo Nicolini. Working closely with renowned industry chef, Raymond Capaldi, the A25 menu is known for pushing the boundaries of what pizza ‘should be’ without sacrificing on taste or quality. You’ll be able to find something to curb your appetite with a range of pizzas, pastas, focaccias and antipastos.

After some experimentation, the duo has created pizza dough that is yeast free, light and easy to digest. Guest can look forward to the team rotating different types of flour including spelt, kamut and enkir. You can get a classic margarita pizza if you chose but the originals offer a whirlwind of flavours that may sound intimidating but will not disappoint. While taking in the European dining ambience, try the INK pizza made with a squid ink base, mozzarella, tiger prawns, calamari, broccolini, cherry tomato and pecorino.

The award winning Bunga Bunga is a long-time favourite and was awarded ‘Best Pizza 2013’ at A25’s sister pizzeria, NSP Docklands, Bunga Bunga , however, an worthy contender is the Bim Bum Bam that’s loaded with chili prawns, pancetta, truffle porcini, broccolini, truffle aioli and parmesan snow.

A25 is a welcomed addition to the CBD and we can’t say enough good things about it!  Now open during the week at 7:30am for an early morning coffee and breakfast on-the-go or late into the evening for after work dinner and drinks.

Taking prime placement on the bustling corner of Lonsdale Street and Hardware Lane, the city A25 will have a focus toward Italian coffee and ‘on-the-go’ breakfast offerings, created for early-morning CBD workers and residents. The glass encased front window cabinet will showcase a mouth-watering abundance of Italian pastries like custard bombolonis, as well as more savoury bites like paninis filled with pancetta and egg and porchetta and Italian apple slaw.

Restaurateur, Remo Nicolini has devised a ‘traderne’ menu alongside industry stalwart, Raymond Capaldi, delivering a mix of traditional and modern cuisine. For the new venue, it’s all about quality dough. The duo has experimented with innovative fermentation methods to produce pizzas that are yeast free, light and easy to digest.

Each week, the team will highlight a different type of flour, creating dough with alternatives including spelt, kamut and enkir flour. As well as featuring some of South Yarra’s favourite toppings like the Bim Bum Bam with chili prawns, pancetta, truffle porcini, broccolini, truffle aioli and parmesan snow, the new menu has some sweet surprises in store, including Italian gelato milkshakes and four Nutellainspired pizzas such as Black Forest with a Nutella base, topped with cherries, blackberries, raspberry dust, fior di latte ice cream, strawberry chocolate flakes and injected with strawberry puree.

Nicolini has designed the venue as an Italian style coffee bar with a European dining ambience, seating 50 guests indoors and 50 guests outside. “I am excited to bring a fresh slice of Italy to Melbourne, I feel at home in the CBD and love the buzz.

It is amazing to have acquired such a prominent site on Hardware Lane. “A25 CBD will be an all day Italian eatery with some interesting surprises. I’m looking forward to delivering a bigger focus towards healthy, easy-to-digest pizza dough and authentic homemade pasta.” A25 is located at 399 Lonsdale Street Melbourne and will open to the public on Thursday, 12th May 2016. Opening hours – 7.30am to 10pm Monday to Friday, 8am-10pm Saturday and closed Sunday.
