Outpost Cafe - Top Notch Cafe off Toorak Road

Outpost Cafe is a top notch cafe just off Toorak Road in a classy mall. Easy access by taking the train to South Yarra then a short distance to Outpost Cafe.

As a self confessed coffee junkie I was determined to try out Outpost cafe and check out their coffee. Outpost Cafe has been a stalwart in South Yarra for some time. And is a coffee specialist.

I was impressed by the friendly baristas and the service. Lucy the owner is a gun barista and will look after you with a single origin or blend. The main section just off the mini mall has a great vibe with cakes and other treats on display (in the middle of the room).

The main section has a cool fit out with vintage pieces combined with the modern. The natural light streams in from the large windows. The retro tiles and cupboards are vintage cool. The area has limited seating and most customers like to sit out in the outside section just in front.

What is amazing is the large room out the back. I enjoyed my breakfast out in this room. Notwithstanding I was there exceptionally early in the morning and when another punter came in to enjoy some privacy he saw me and headed back out.

Outpost Cafe has some great coffee from Axil Roasters. My latte was creamy and full of flavour. Strong enough with nutty characteristics. Right up there with some of the best coffee in a highly competetive precinct.

The breakfast options are excellent including the breakfast burrito which is great value. Or try the French toast or Oyster mushrooms with fetta on sourdough.

The daily baguettes are also excellent.

Outpost is a great place to stop and relax and imbibe the ambience of South Yarra.
