A humble Indian restaurant in Tunstall Square in Mitcham, Haveli is a favourite of locals for it’s authenticity and quality Indian fare. This restaurant was apparently the first Indian restaurant in the eastern suburbs and was opened way back in 1981. They say on their website that the team behind the scenes has 15-35 years experience as cooks and chefs!

Dining in is a great option as it feels like a true Indian experience with all the hanging materials and decorations. There is a partition separating the take away customers from the dine-in customers – fair enough! There is a certain charm about this place.

I love the butter chicken here! It’s creamy but not too rich, and is not without spice. For me it’s about the quality of the chicken, how well it’s cooked, but largely about the sauce… It’s a winner!

These guys are also famous for their South Indian Sunday brunch! Highly recommended!
