Save The Children Rocks Christmas in July

Save the Children is one of Australia's largest aid and development agencies dedicated to helping children. They work hard to protect children from harm and help them access quality education and health services. The World Loves Melbourne was delighted to be invited to an exclusive Christmas in July event at Alimentari in Collingwood where winner of The Block Deanne Jolly provided styling and co-hosting charm for the event, and we heard an inspirational speech from CEO Paul Ronalds. With many celebs present, including from The Block and MKR, it was a vibrant night of conviviality. Wines were supplied by the fabulous Sam Miranda Wines from King Valley (The World Loves Melbourne was blown away by the Nebiolo).

If you go to somewhere like the UK, Save The Children are one of the first charities on people's lips. Here in Australia they also do amazing work but The World Loves Melbourne would like to see them get greater recognition. Save The Children step into challenging situations including disaster relief, as advocates for vulnerable children.

With more than 90 years working with children, Save The Children are at the forefront of saving children's lives when disasters strike and create lasting change for children and their families through long-term development programs. Paul Ronalds spoke about the work of Save The children both here and overseas, with first hand accounts of his own experiences out in the "field". Paul told us that the Christmas in July event was the launch of a month long campaign to assist and benefit vulnerable children in need.

David Hagger the Founder of The World Loves Melbourne enjoyed this superb evening among movers and shakers who make an indelible difference in our society. Save The Children programs exist in 29 countries, including Australia, where they work in every state and the Northern Territory. With the generosity of more than 100,000 Australians, they support millions of the hardest-to-reach and most vulnerable children and young people around the world. In 2014 alone, they reached 12 million people.

As one of 30 member organisations that form part of the Save the Children Association, the Australian Save The Children shares a global vision and strategy for creating better lives for children worldwide. The member organisations created Save the Children International in 2010 to improve the impact of their global programming.
