Upcoming - Great Australian Beer Festival @ Geelong Racecourse for February 21

The World Loves Melbourne attended the media dinner preview at Jasper Hotel of the fabulous Great Australian Beer Festival to be held at Geelong Racecourse on February 21, 2015. Not only Geelong locals but Melbournites are increasingly taking the highway to live it up at this premium beer event.

It was great to meet the characters of Geelong craft brewing and hear of the exciting plans for this year's Great Australian Beer Festival. Craft beers always attract craft beer stories, and we were honoured to meet characters Hendo from Brew Cult and Luke from Prickly Moses, brewers from Geelong based breweries. The World Loves Melbourne was treated to a stunning dinner with beers matched with food from Vue Grand Hotel Queenscliff. Let's face it - Geelong has a thriving foodie culture and their beers are being noticed on Melbourne beer lists...

Jasper Hotel was the perfect venue to experience a preview of the Great Australian Beer festival.

Brewers and beer lovers make the annual pilgrimage to Geelong, the city by the bay (only an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD), to join with the locals and experience Victoria’s premier celebration of beer and ciders, Australia’s biggest alfresco craft beer and cider garden.

Wander through pop-up bars to sample over 200 Australian and international brews, visit stalls and stroll alleyways to discover an artisan utopia of boutique beers and ciders. Add live music over 3 stages, beer cabaret, comedy, visual arts and a restaurant filled Tastes of the Region, and this festival has all you need for an irresistible weekend.

Taste some homebrew or learn from free seminars on topics like ‘How to taste beer’ or ‘Pairing beer with a range of foods’. Drink, eat, socialise and be merry with plenty of opportunity to kick back, enjoy and to stimulate more than just your tastebuds.

The Great Australian Beer Festival is setting up to be bigger and better than ever before, with more brewers, more space, free beer related seminars, a Tastes of the Region dining area to profile local restaurants, on trend gourmet food trucks, competitions for home brewing, keg rolling and BEERtography along with live entertainment including roaming performers, cabaret, comedy and live music across three stages.

Lose yourself to the sounds of worldly music, from the reggae and Calypso of Nicky Bomba & Friends, to a variety of indie, jazz, funk, folk, blue grass and country.

Families are also catered for with a designated kids zone, interactive activities, roaming entertainers, lots of fun and frivolity and plenty of shade.

The most colourful beer festival you’re ever likely to attend runs from 11am to 7pm and entry starts at $39.50 + bf. Direct shuttles run from South Geelong Station to get you safely to and from the event.
