Get Mr Claws Into You

Daniel Wilson continues to ride high with his latest venture, Mr Claws being the hottest ticket item in Melbourne right now. After being so well received at Taste of Melbourne, the trio behind Huxtable and Huxtaburger have finalised a short-term home for their newest delectable morsel, a lobster roll by the name of Mr Claws. The tantalizing Mr Claws is filled with generous pieces of lobster meat from a sustainable North American fishery, coated in a choice of three sauces: miso and wasabi, Sriracha spiced mayonnaise or buttermilk ranch, served up in a soft roll.

Daniel told The World Loves Melbourne he sold thousands of Mr Claws Lobster Rolls at Taste of Melbourne, and his follow up has been to open a pop up Mr Claws next to Huxtaburger on Smith St.

Mr Claws has a playful sense of fun and we dig the neon signage of the lobster opening and closing it s pincers. Daniel told The World Loves Melbourne that Mr Claws sold 600 Lobster Rolls on their first night of trading! When we rolled up just before opening 12 midday, there was already a queue down the street, which continued to grow after the door opened. Word has got out and the punters are flocking...

The team behind Huxtaburger and Huxtable, Daniel Wilson, Dante Ruaine and Jeff Wong have noticed the popularity of similar buns in parts of London and wanted to welcome one into their fold, a way of making a luxury product accessible to everyone.

Snapping up its place next door to Huxtaburger at 104 Smith Street, the popup will also offer a range of drinks, such as beer, Pimms, and Gordons Elderflower Spritz. Some more permanent sites will beconsidered for 2015.

A lobster roll costs $12, and for $15, you also get straw potato chips and pickles.

A "special" running this day was 2 Lobster Rolls for $20. I enjoyed them as a fun treat and the rolls were so rich that eating 2 was more than enough.

The soft sweet dreamy brioche bun adds to the experience. I enjoyed the sides of small crispy potato chips and the tang of the pickles as accompaniments. Not to mention the bliss of a Hawthorn ale to wash it all down.

Nothing Daniel Wilson does is by chance. The lobster roll with sides had great balance and array of flavour. Top notch lobster with choice of sexy sauces is a winner.

Check out the queue in store with quirky netting backdrop.

There is some seating available for peckish patrons, and Mr Claws will be open from 12pm-3pm and 5pm-9pm this week. Updates on the duration of the pop up can be found on the Mr Claws Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MrClawsMelbourne.
